=========================== Call for Papers =========================== LADC'2005 - Second Latin-American Symposium on Dependable Computing Salvador – Bahia, Brazil - October 25-28, 2005 http://www.lasid.ufba.br/ladc2005 ORGANIZED BY: LaSiD/DCC – Federal University of Bahia, Brazil SPONSORED BY: SBC – Brazilian Computing Society IN COOPERATION WITH: - IFIP Working Group 10.4 "Dependable Computing and Fault-Tolerance" - (tentative) IEEE TC on Fault-Tolerant Computing - SCCC - Chilean Computer Science Society - SADIO - Argentine Society for Informatics and Operations Research - (tentative) SMCC - Mexican Society for Computer Science LADC is a major Latin-American event dedicated to discussing the many issues related to computer system dependability. This symposium succeeds the well established Brazilian Symposium on Fault Tolerant Computers; its first edition was held in São Paulo, Brazil, in October 2003. Its objective is to provide a forum for international and Latin-American scientists and engineers to present their latest research results and application experience in this very dynamic field. The LADC program will present technical sessions, tutorials and keynote talks from top international experts in the area, as well as on-going research. The symposium scope spans system, software, and hardware issues. Major topics include, but are not limited to: - Architectures for Dependable Systems - Dependability Evaluation - Dependability in Mobile Computing - Dependability Modeling and Prediction - Dependable Applications - Dependable Real-Time Systems - Dependability in Networking - Dependability in Multimedia Systems - Design for Testability - Fault-tolerant Distributed Algorithms - Intrusion Tolerance - Middleware for Fault Tolerance - Safety-Critical Systems - Security of Computing Systems - Software Engineering of Dependable Systems - Software Fault Tolerance - Survivability of Computing Systems Only original papers (not published or under review elsewhere) can be submitted. The proceedings of the symposium will be published in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series by Springer. INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS Papers should be written in English and can be submitted in the following categories: Regular Papers describing original research, and Practical Experience Reports describing an experience or a case study. Regular Papers and Practical Experience Reports should be no longer than 20 and 12 double-spaced pages, respectively, including figures, tables, references, and appendices. The font size should be 12 points. The first page should include an abstract, authors' names, addresses and affiliations, and specify whether the submission is a Regular Paper or a Practical Experience Report. The full mailing address, telephone and FAX number and e-mail address of the author for correspondence should also be indicated. TUTORIALS Proposals for full day and half-day tutorials are also requested. Proposals should include the lecture outline, assumed background of audience, and CV of the presenter. SUBMISSION ADDRESS Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts electronically, following the instructions described at the conference web site.
