Welcome Message from the General Chair
On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to SRDS 2018 which takes place in the auditorium of the Mathematics and Statistics Institute of Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), in Ondina’s university campus, in Salvador city, Bahia, Brazil, on October 2 - 5, 2018.
Over the past 36 years, SRDS has provided a worldwide reference forum for researchers and practitioners interested in distributed systems design, development and evaluation, particularly with the emphasis on reliability, availability, safety, security, trust, and real-time. Following its high-quality tradition, this year we have a program with 39 presentations in four days, with the first day dedicated to a thematic workshop, followed by three days of the main event. The program includes two keynote speeches, 8 main track sessions, an abstract session, a Ph.D. forum, and the Workshop on the Distributed Smart City. Prof. C.V. Ramamoorthy best paper award will be delivered during the symposium banquet.
The symposium offers also opportunities for further technical discussions and social networking. As such, take advantage of our welcome reception, banquet (with best paper award ceremony), and coffee breaks. In addition, this year we organized open pre-event talks, on October the first, on subjects related to reliable distributed systems so that our local students and professors can all be exposed to the symposium area.
We wish you all a productive symposium and hope that you will have time during your visit to explore and enjoy our city, with its beautiful beaches, cultural life, and historical sites.
Looking forward to meeting you all in Salvador.
